About Dataflo
Dataflo is a New Mexico-based GovTech company, and our software helps the people who run government work faster, more transparently, and with better information. Our vision is to build the AI that powers human governance across all 50 states.
This role sells our two core products:
- Billflo, AI legislative intelligence. Agencies and government affairs teams track bills, ask plain-language questions across years of sessions, and see what legislation means for their budgets and programs.
- Govflo, AI public records (IPRA) and Open Meetings compliance. Records teams find, review, and redact responsive documents in a fraction of the time, with every action reviewed and approved by a person.
We sell through established procurement vehicles, including Carahsoft and NASPO, offering buyers a clear path to purchase.
The role
You will be Dataflo’s founding Account Executive, owning the full sales cycle for Billflo and Govflo from first outreach to signed contract.
You start with a book of existing New Mexico accounts and active opportunities handed over from the founding team. Most of your quota comes from new business you build yourself: new state agencies, counties, cities, and government affairs teams at companies and associations.
What you’ll do
- Build your own pipeline. Research target agencies and organizations, find the right decision-makers, and open conversations through calls, email, LinkedIn, events, and in-person visits.
- Run consultative discovery. Learn how a records office, legislative liaison, or government affairs team works today, where the pain is, and what a measurable win looks like for them.
- Lead demos. Show Billflo and Govflo in terms of the buyer’s own workflow, with help from the Solutions Team when the conversation calls for deeper technical detail.
- Navigate government buying. Guide prospects through budget cycles, approvals, security review, and purchasing through vehicles such as Carahsoft and NASPO ValuePoint.
- Manage pilots to contract. With help from the Solutions Team, scope pilots with clear success criteria and turn them into agency-wide agreements.
- Grow your starter book. Expand and renew the existing accounts you inherit.
- Hand off cleanly. Pass closed deals to onboarding with full context so customers start strong.
- Keep the CRM honest. Log every account, contact, and activity in Attio, and forecast accurately.
- Feed the product. Bring field insight back to the product team on what buyers need next.
Territory, location, and travel
Your territory starts with New Mexico and expands to neighboring states, such as Arizona, Colorado, and Texas, within your first year.
- Location. You must live in New Mexico. Candidates outside the state are welcome to apply if they will relocate.
- Travel. In-state travel as required to meet agencies, counties, and cities in person, including Santa Fe during legislative sessions. Out-of-state travel grows as the territory expands into neighboring states.
- Requirement. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
What you bring
Required
- 3 or more years in B2B software sales, with experience selling to government (state, county, or municipal).
- A track record in both prospecting and closing. Time in an SDR or business development role followed by a full-cycle AE role is ideal.
- Experience leading discovery and product demos with government stakeholders across multiple departments.
- Working knowledge of public sector buying: budget cycles, approvals, RFPs, and cooperative purchasing.
- Disciplined CRM use and accurate forecasting.
- Clear, warm, professional communication in writing, on the phone, and in person.
- Comfort working at an early-stage company: building process as you go, without a large support team.
Nice to have
- Sales experience in civic tech, legislative tracking, public records, or compliance software.
- Existing relationships in New Mexico or Southwest state and local government.
- Experience selling through Carahsoft, NASPO ValuePoint, or similar contract vehicles.
- Familiarity with how government affairs teams at companies or associations track legislation.
- Spanish language skills.
Compensation
- Base salary. $80K to $130K, based on experience.
- On-target earnings (OTE). $150K to $260K, meaning base plus commission at 100% of quota.
- Commission. Uncapped, with accelerators above quota.
- Ramp. A structured ramp period while you take over your starter book and build pipeline.
- Relocation. Support available for candidates moving to New Mexico.
- Expenses. Business travel reimbursed.
